Hmm... there may not be a way to override the Blogger re-sizing algorithm. Since they're hosting the images, they want strict control over what size the images are. It's likely that if you want bigger pics, you'll have to host them yourself somewhere (flickr and photobucket are options) but you'd have to manually enter the code into the blog post.
